August Already?

Sorry, the new month slipped in on me while I was writing.

I just completed the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers NovelRama event where we had to write 25,000 words in four days. That’s a nice start to a new book.

Where are we now (summary):

1. I’ve finished Milk Run and got some excellent feedback from the beta readers. I’ll be fixing that up and sending off to the editor in a few days.

2. I’ve got 25,000 words on To Fire Called. I’ll get back to that as soon as I get Milk Run off to the editor. She’ll need a few weeks to work her magic – which I hope will be enough for me to finish Fire. No promises. I’m terrible at the guessing game.

3. Full Share is due out on Audible mid-month.

Appearances this month:

I’m going to be over on the Western Slope on August 13th doing a workshop with Lisa Manifold for the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers on “Taking Control Of Your Career.”

I’ll be appearing on a panel at the Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver on August 18th as part of the Independent Writer of the Year festivities. If you’re around, it’s open to the public and you’re invited. (I was a finalist. The honor went to Lisa Manifold.)

Future appearances:
– The Rocky Mountain Fiction Writer’s conference in September.
– MileHighCon, Denver, October.
– COSine, Colorado Springs, January.

  1. Does that mean that FUTURE books featuring Ishmael Wang are under contract to Podium Publishing for production on Audible or is that just current?
By the way, I think I can speak for all of us when I say, please keep writing. We love what you are creating.

    1. Podium has license for all the Trader’s Tales and all the Seeker’s Tales. That’s nine books in total but nothing beyond that.

  2. How does one get on your beta reading list? Anxiously waiting for the first installment of smugglers tales.

    1. I don’t have a “list” per se but call for betas on my morning walk. Leave a comment on that day. My usual practice is to ask for a two day turnaround.

  3. 25,000 words in four days! Wow. Can’t wait to read them, and all others that flow from your pen. Also, I love the titles of the Seeker’s Tales; very evocative.

  4. Just wanted to drop a line to again reiterate that you are an amazingly gifted author.

I just finished “Owners Share” as part of my traditional re-read of every book in a series as a new book comes out in it before I finally get to “In Ashes Born”. To say I am pretty excited is an understatement 😀

    1. Holy (excuse my expletive) hell. “In Ashes Born” was like renewing my lease on life. Absolutely awesome. You manage to renew my faith in writing every damn day I read your books.

  5. Just finished reading In Ashes Born. Love Ish! I can’t wait to read the next book. Glad that Ishmael’s adventures didn’t end with Owner’s Share. Thank you for the wonderful entertainment!

  6. Any update on milk run. Also have own all three of the Ravenwood book as soon as they came out. Was so into solar clipper series always put them off. Read the first and already on second. Loved them. I not sure why I’ve been such a dumb ass not starting them right away. Love the characters and story. They are incredible books.

    1. What a great week . Started and finished the 3 tanyth Fairport books . They were amazing and then read milk run. Which I also loved. Toe-hold space so in riches your solar clipper universe. It really fleshes it out. In a blink I’m going through with drawl again but what a ride. Thank Nathan for a heck of a ride.

  7. Hi Nathan. Any more audio books on the way? I love to fall asleep to the soothing sound of your voice and was wondering when I would be able to indulge with a new story!
Thanks for all of the joy I’ve had (while hoping for more)

  8. Just finished Milk Run! Great as always. Wish you could write as fast as I can read the, 🙂
