Hurray, Hurray, First Of May

Grassin’ season starts today!

Actually it’s cold and wet here. We’ve had snow all weekend.

Several bits of good news.

Podium’s edition of Quarter Share is available for pre-order. Release date is May 10.

The Starbound anthology – with Exile in it – is free for a few days. Grab it while you can. It’ll be coming down soon and the story will come home. My plan is to put it in the beginning of Milk Run. That’s where it belongs.

Speaking of Milk Run, it’s finally coming together. I’ve got my fingers crossed for the completion of first draft this month so I can move it on to the editor who’s been waiting for it since November!

Once I get that off my plate I’ll be working on To Fire Called, but I’ll be lucky to get it out before Christmas at the rate I’m going. My estimating ability has proven to be horribly unreliable so I’m not going to push my luck.

I will not be attending BaltiCon this year. It’s my younger daughter’s high school graduation weekend and I’m needed here. So it goes.

  1. High school graduations are higher on the priority list. Congrats on that and look forward to being a beta reader for Milk Run if that is possible.

  2. Glad to hear Milk Run is coming together, I’m looking forward to it. Meanwhile, I just pre-ordered Quarter Share.

  3. Oh, dear. So now I’ve finished my Audible reading of Quarter Share, and had the first 3 chapters of Half Share as a teaser. Wonderful, but when can I have the rest, please?!

  4. Dang, somehow i missed that there was a new Ishmael story. Been waiting for them. Been a fan since the first episode on podiobooks. Nice to see them showing up on audible, always good to see a good author getting a wider audience. What is the release schedule?
As for the new book, reading the summary, this series sounds darker than the last. Never saw Ish as a person who would walk the vengeance trail. With his intelligence, emotional control and outsider point of view, i imagine he’d be an implacable enemy.

  5. I just chipped you come money (As I should have long ago…) by buying all your books in prep for the audio books coming out and grabbed the audio of quarter share. I’m pleasantly surprised at the quality! Do you know if they have a schedule for future releases?

    1. Grr typos… “I just chipped you come” should be “I just chipped you some”

  6. Just wanted to Thank You for hours of good reading. Can’t wait for the next book. I will gladly read anything you write. You are my new favorite author. Best wishes for your good health and gratitude for your sharing of talent.

  7. You have cemented yourself firmly as my favorite author time and again, I simply love your work and keep it all stacked on my nightstand because I re-read it so often.

I’ve got a question (but I’m not sure if it is appropriate). What did you mean by not being able to afford working with Baen? You are a top tier author with the greatest; I guess I’m trying to understand if you are being tossed under the theoretical bus for not “Playing the Game” so to speak.

  8. Why would you have someone else read your books when you have done such a good job of it yourself? That’s like getting a high school team to team to sand in for the Yankees or Celtics (choose your sport). Not sure why you are redoing the readings.
