May Day

I missed the last few updates so…here goes:

20140501_085520
The last half of March had way too much red on it. Working on paperbacks is a “tough job” for me and I’m easily distracted.

On the plus side, I crossed off two of the open audio projects and I’ve got no more outside jobs (other than the odd drop in line for a project that was supposed to be completed by now).

20140501_085543April was a bit better There’s more blue and I actually finished up the galley for Full Share. It should be available at Amazon now.

Most of the month was one problem after another. Between being sick, having technology issues on the morning walk, and all the other interruptions to my well ordered existence, it wasn’t the best month.

On the plus side, I’ve gotten a new keyboard that I love. I’m working on new stories — and some old ones — and I’ve put aside the paperbacks for the time being. It’s time I got back to having a bit of fun with writing.

So, hurray, hurray.
The first of May.
Outdoor .. um … writing (yeah, outdoor writing!)
Starts today!

Safe voyage and thanks for your continued support.

  1. Progress is progress.

Personally i’m not waiting for the paperbacks, so i’m happy you having fun with writing new stories.

All the best luck in may 🙂

  2. It’s good to hear from you again. I was getting worried!

And, it’s good to get back to the art you love; all that “meta-work” may be necessary, but it is, or can be, soul-sucking!

  3. Outdoor… writing. Literally LOL’ing over here. Thanks for that 🙂 Happy May and hope that it’s a grand month for you. Yay for fun writing!

  4. Captain,
what’s going on with the copies of Double Share on amazon it is listed as being published by Ridan… but I know you are no longer with them the ISBN-13:978-1937475710. Are these official copies? I didn’t think Ridan made it past half share. ..

    Thanks for the hard work.

    Paul

  5. Mr. Lowell,

I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate your work. I “read” the entire Golden Age of the Solar Clipper series through podiobooks.com and loved it. I also read the first Tanyth Fairport book that way then switched to Kindle editions tor the other two. Your characters are well-crafted, with a gentle but strong aspect to them that makes them endure. I would like to hear more about Ish Wang, and Tanyth is a gem. Two of my daughters are Wiccan, and I’m recommending these books to them.

It is strange that you grew up in Maine and wanted to live in an underground house. I am from Maine and built an underground house, where i raised my kids. So we may have some commonality. I have been an SF fan since my boyhood and thoroughly enjoy your work.

I am really impressed by the quality of your audio work, too. I have volunteered for Librivox for a couple of years and enjoy that work, especially dramatic readings.

    Thanks for all you do.

    Frank Booker

  6. Please, please can you give us a taste.

Just the opening quote of the next Ishmael Wang novel…

    Please, I beg of thee…

  7. Sar,
I really enjoyed Owners Share. Beggin my pardon, I hope to see Red Herring spaced in person by Cap’n Wang.

Normally when I read a book, I can speed through the fill. But so much of the fill is entertaining, I totally was sandbagged by the developments of the Characters. I had to actually think that this was fiction and not a real story.
You truly write in the classical sci fi style of Heinlein, where the science is the backdrop of the Characters.

I wish my single truck owner operator shipping company was truly a space vessel.

Thank you for keeping working and living in space reality instead of a dream.

    Your student,
    Matt

  8. Hi Nathan,
Just wanted to add to all the compliments … and ask a question

You know the books are great but for me the Audio is better as it gets over what you really want the character to say and feel … stunning job

That said … and i know i am greedy … but when can we have another audiobook … you still have so much good stuff to share and for some of us this is the best (or only) way to get it.

    Regards

    Joe

    1. I need to get into the booth over the summer and record the last two Tanyth books!

Along with finishing the paperback releases…Oh, and I got South Coast back…

So much to do .. so little time 🙂

  9. Captain,

Every few months I tune into your Morning Walks and check your sites to see what’s happening. I first signed the Articles when Podiobooks.com released Quarter Share. Now I listen to the whole series about twice a year. (I can’t put my finger on why, but your books are just able the only audiobooks I can enjoy listening to over and over.) Occasionally, I hear myself use a turn of phrase you’ve crafted.

Of course, I eagerly look forward to new stories and will buy anything you make available in any and every format. And I routinely check out any books you recommend. Please take the time you need to create what you want. We know you will share when you can, and I trust your judgement, Captain.

  10. I would really like to have your two books, Hermit of Ravenswood and Zyphera’s Call in actual book form – not kindle, not nook….I don’t “do” e-books. Will you be publishing these two books as actual books? If so, when and how can I get copies?

    1. My goal is to have all ten of my works out in all the formats by year end. That includes paper, ebook, and audio. You’ll be able to order them on Amazon, right alongside the ebooks.

      Wish me luck 🙂

  11. Are you going to be updating us any time soon. I’ve come to enjoy your inputs and suggestions on books.

  12. Hello Mr Lowell love the new Jeff Bridges bearded look (or maybe you’ve had it for some time and its really an old one). It has the distinguished look of an accomplished author that the other unassuming one I’m used to from podiobooks doesn’t have. Still loved the other one though. Hope your feeling better. Your ‘stuff’ is great! and has brought a considerable amount of enjoyment, entertainment and escape to me. Thanks.
