Have you ever tried to make fruit loaf or pastrys. Plus what made you interested in making your own bread is it something you have always done .

I used to make real fruit cakes for Christmas presents and I make a mean apple pie, but that’s as close as I get to baking with fruit or pastry.

I learned to bake bread and beans as a kid. They were Saturday staples growing up in Maine. It’s a practice I go back to once in a while. I had my own sour dough starter when we moved here to Colorado. I stopped baking it when Life Got Busy.

I got interested in it again lately when I dug out the old automatic bread machine and tried to make a loaf. It was less than satisfactory so I started recovering my dormant skills with flour and yeast. So far so good. I’m really liking the bread and the “for science” aspects of tinkering with the recipe(s) to get a different but equally tasty result have made me happy.
