Give a listen to the Mark Knopfler song So Far From the Clyde. Sonically it’s no different than a Dire Straits song, but it came at a later point in history in which DS wasn’t a legal entity any more. It tells the story of the death of a merchant ship in India, and Knopfler uses the metaphor of an execution to tell the story. Knopfler’s guitar work (he uses his Les Paul for this one) is fully as gorgeous as that in Brothers In Arms. I think you’ll like it.
