The Federal Holiday anyway. I still count it as October 12th but I’m biased.
And sorry for the delay. Dropbox didn’t want to sync right away for me.

It’s good to hear that things with Ridan are working out.
I may have found a problem with the file for Zypheria’s Call. On kindle for android phones, it’s really hard to advance beyond the first page for each new chapter. When i swipe the screen, it keeps going to the opening page of each new chapter, instead of advancing to the second page. If i do this a bunch of times eventually I can get beyound the opening page.
To give credit where credit is due, from what you said, Robin is now handling the situation maturely and reasonably, for now at least.
That’s great that she gave you the files rather than you having to re-create them!
I think the “hm, have to click to see what it is/says” effect might be a good thing, not a bad thing … but, BTW, I can read the titles and make out the pictures on the thumbnail versions returned by Amazon e.g. in search results. I would be awfully tempted, especially since it sounds like Robin/Ridan has come out of seclusion and is trying to handle things better, to take her up on the offer of the first four covers and to see if Michael would be available to do the two final covers — see if you can negotiate a reasonable price for them, and get the ones for the final two books done for you while you re-release the first four books. Those covers are beautiful, and I think they stand out. Also, you could probably change the typeface (or boldness, or something) on fronts of the final two to increase legibility while still having them look close enough, and perhaps keeping matching spines.
P.S. You need at some point to update your author bio on Amazon. 🙂
P.P.S. I don’t remember if you thought you’d updated the cover on Ravenwood (paperback) on Amazon or if you still knew you had to change it, but it still (at least in the thumbnail of the cover associated with the book, if not in the e-book itself?) shows the photograph cover, not the Kip Ayers cover. I expect this is low down on the priority list, though. 🙂
Oh, and P.P.P.S. I see that there’s placeholders on Amazon for both Captain’s Share and Owner’s Share, and Captain’s Share can even be pre-ordered. Presumably that will be a bit of a PITA, in that anyone who’s pre-ordered it is presumably going to get a “Your order has been canceled …” type of e-mail when it’s pulled (which likely won’t helpfully tell them “but you can [pre]order it under a different ISBN here!”), unless you can somehow transfer/use the pre-existing placeholder. Thankfully, Amazon does not charge one’s credit card until one’s product is shipping, at least.
Ps. Beginning with chapter 6 of Zyperia, the chapters advance normally. The earlier chapters still won’t advance normally (using kindle for android phone.)
OK that’s weird.
I’m looking at the file and there is *nothing* special about those first five chapters.
Ok this is something specific to android phones and kindlefire, as nearly as I can tell. It works properly on Kindle proper.
I *think* there are double “page breaks” along with widow/orphan code that’s forcing the page to the blank line before the heading each time. I’m trying to confirm it now.
What I don’t get is why it’s only on the first 6 chapters because they all use the same code.
I guessed it would be some wierd little invisible thing. The same problem happens going into chapter 8 as well.
Yup. That was it. “Some wierd little invisible thing.”
Kindle accepts and processes the css for “page-break-before” just fine. Kindle Fire doesn’t.
I had to create a special tag to put at the END of the chapter to set the page break after and then clean up all the rubbish that went into the file while I was working.
The kindle version has an odd first page with the title in a smaller font than my name, but every other device appears to show it properly.
That’ll be ok for now, I think.
I’ve hit republish, but I’m not sure how long it will take before the file filters through.
