I wondered why everybody was commenting on the St. Patty’s Day post and then realized … um.
Yeah. Sorry about that.
The derpression maybe worse than the depression (not really). I’ve no excuse other than “What? It’s June? When did that happen?”
(Answer: “About two weeks ago. Where have you been?”)
So, I’m off to the library to write about Sarah Krugg. Wish me luck.
Things I’m working on:
1. Finishing Cape Grace
2. Starting the first Seeker’s Tale
3. Walking more (Trying to break 1000 episodes on the TOMMW podcast this month).
4. No more digging the hole that depression has me in. I’m trying to _fill it in_ instead.

Glad to see you’re starting to work on the “Seekers Tales” series. We ADD poeple usually hae a different approach to things and I find your development of the Solar Clipper storyverse an intriguingly different take on the whole “Humanity Conquors the Stars” thing.
There has to be more to interstellar travel than warring empires. Somebody has to develop the economic infrastructure, trade networks and build the wealth to make it all possible. I really enjoyed your ‘everyman” approach to it.
Keep pluggin’ bro, can’t wait to see what you come up with next. Did you know that many if not most artists are ADD like us. Maybe wer’re just distracted by a different world…..;)

I do check in on a regular basis (just normally don’t post comments). I appreciate this note you posted. I started rereading some of your books. I receive a lot of enjoyment out of them, and they are great distractions from distressing issues. Keep up your hard work and I hope the sun shines more for you every day.
Waiting patiently for the next book, no matter what series it may be in. In the meantime I am reading back through all the Ishmael books and South Coast. I find myself returning to them quite often. They always seem to lift my spirits when I’m feeling down or stressed.
Hopefully, you are feeling better and able to complete some of the things on your to do list. Take the time you need, because your stories are always well worth waiting for.
Best of luck, Nathan. I struggle with depression as well, and trying to manage it so that it doesn’t impact my writing and/or productivity is an ongoing and difficult challenge. All we can do is keep moving, figuratively and literally. 🙂
Seeker’s Tale is an intriguing title. Is this more in the Lammas Woods, South Coast or Solar Clipper?

Your books have been EXACTLY the kind of novels I crave. Simple stories (on the surface) of “average” people, living their lives the best they can. Forget all the flash, bang, and high-tech, it’s the PEOPLE I care about, and I’ll happily read a book about interesting folk having dinner. The early life of Ishmael was a charmed one, and towards the end of the series I was dreading the other shoe dropping, because he is a wonderfully quirky and lucky fellow. His life is the reverse of my own, only now in my 40’s are things finally coming together after suffering thru one disaster after another. Both of us now seem to be on the upswing and I’m eager to see what the future holds for the folks of Firebird.
Your works give hope and inspiration to all of us who consider ourselves fans, if nothing else, take a bit of our enthusiasm and let it carry you thru the tough times, you’ve got a whole LOT of people out here rooting for you. 🙂
