Winter Solstice

For those who aren’t following the daily updates, here’s a quick run down on what’s happening.

In November I wrote book three of the Tanyth Fairport adventures – The Hermit of Lammas Wood. It’s with the editor now and is slated for a February release.

This month I’m recording. I have a lot of audio work backed up and I’m working on clearing that away as well as getting the podcast of Zypheria’s Call together.

Next month I’m writing Cape Grace – the sequel to South Coast and a prequel to Half Share. I’ve had it on my to-do list for years and it’s time I got it off.

In February, I’ll be working on whatever the next available production is. I have three books out with various editors. Ideally, I’ll get one or two of them back by then and I’ll publish whatever I have in hand. Failing that, I’ll work on paperbacks.

The plan for 2014 includes six books. I’ve got a new trilogy featuring Ishmael Wang and a new trilogy featuring a new cast of characters. You can find more details about those books at solarclipper.com.

Happy Holidays.

    1. Owner’s Share is still with the editors. Until I get a completed manuscript back, I’m kinda stuck.

At the moment I have these titles with editors:

      Owner’s Share
      South Coast
      Hermit of Lammas Wood

If I get any of them back in time to publish before I drop into writing the next book, I’ll publish them.

      Some rules:

I won’t publish more than one a month.

I won’t publish one that’s not as good as I can make it. (Note that “as good as I can make it” does not mean “perfect.” It just means I’ve done what I can to assure the book is as ready as I can make it.)

  1. There had been talk of doing a podcast for A Light in the Darkness. You had also mentioned it not feasible as its own cast as it was too small. Anything new on that?

    1. At 20k words, it’s too small for a podcast and too big for the anthologies. If I made it into three pieces, I might be able to get it onto Star Ship Sofa. At the moment it’s waaaay down on my list of things to get moving.

    1. Actually, no, Eric. It’s not a joke.

Talking On My Morning Walk is published (almost) daily. I try to walk two miles a day and I record for the second mile. That’s where people find out what I did yesterday and plan on doing today. It’s been a bit spotty this month because I’ve been sick and the weather has been dangerously cold.

There’s a link to it at the bottom of this page.

      1. Just came back and read this… I’m sorry. I had COMPLETELY forgotten about your daily recordings! I am so sorry. And as I reread my initial comment, I have to apologize… what sounded funny to me at the time of the writing, comes across… well, not so funny.

        1. No worries, Eric. A lot of people don’t know about TOMMW.

And I missed a week of posts. I has sad legs today because I *did* manage to get out today. After a week off, that’s .. unfortunate 🙂

  2. It may seem funny, but one of the aspects of the Ishmael Wang stories i have always enjoyed is the breakfasts at “over easy” and the the other meals described in the stories. The biscuits on the Lois” is another example. I have even successfullly tried to “bake” steaks to finish them off as described in “Owners Share”. Is there any chance of Ishmael and friends will be coming out with a cook book?

Just an off the wall idea.

I have loved all your stories since my son introduced me to them. They are now floating through my whole family. Keep up the good work!

    1. Sorry, Gene. I meant to reply to this sooner but … reasons.

Yeah. I’ve had more requests for the Solar Clipper Cookbook than any other single thing (other than the next Ishmael Wang story).

Will I do it? I don’t know. I’ve been trying some recipes … like the spicy beefalo casserole … but so far, nothing great.

  3. Nathan,

Keep plugging away and have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year 🙂

Your writing is worth the wait.
